Sibley school is collecting food items for MarketPlace Foods Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive for Charity.  Each classroom will be collecting food items from November3rd until December 9th.  Did we mention there will be a special prize for the classroom who collects the most food items??

Pennies for the Plunge

The Blue Ice Plunge is coming to Albert Lea during the BIG FREEZE community festival on Saturday, February 15th.

We are collecting money to contribute to the food shelf drive taking place during the Blue Ice Plunge Event.  If we meet our school goal of $200, one (or more) teachers from Sibley School will be taking the plunge.  Help us reach our goal by sending in your spare change anytime between now and Friday, February 14th.

Learning about Hospitals

First graders took a fieldtrip to our local Mayo Clinic hospital today.  They learned about how one gets admitted to the hospital, as well as about the human body.  They visited the lab to see what blood looks like under a microscope.  They also saw a newborn baby and got to go inside an ambulance to learn about what EMTs do.  Everyone had a great time and learned a lot.  Thank you to our local hospital for providing this great experience for our first graders!

Snack and Milk Cart will begin September 9th

Cancer Survivor Climbs Mount Everest

On Friday, May 6, 2011, Justin Anderson visited several classrooms at Sibley. Justin shared his story of perseverance through tough times. At the age of 26 he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. After successful surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, Justin had the opportunity to climb to the base camp of Mount Everest with other cancer survivors.

Critters and Company

JAM World Record

On September 27th all Sibley students participated in the JAM World Record.  JAM World Record is a fun campaign to rally everyone to pause and take just a minute for a fitness break.

3rd Grade Farm Tour

Sibley's 3rd graders went on a Farm Tour Wednesday, September 25th.  They had a great time.  The third graders even got to bring back a sack of potatoes!

What Makes Hot Air Balloons Rise?

On thursday, March 24th, the Stingray reading group from Miss Bennett's 1st grade class presented their reports on hot air balloons to classmates and family members.

Sibley students raise $15K for school programs, visits

Students at Sibley Elementary School had a special chance to raise money, get their principal in a dunk tank and get some exercise all at the same time on Friday. 

Sibley's parent-teacher organization, Sibley SHARE, organized a walking event called Stroll for a Goal.
