Lori J Nelson is the 18-21 Transition Program instructor for District 241. This is a special education program for 18-21 years olds working on Independent Living Skills. The program is housed at Brookside Education Center. Lori came to District 241 in 2000. She earned her BS in Elementary Education, Educable Mentally Handicapped and coaching from Winona State University in 1978. She earned her MS in Learning Disabilities and DCD/SP in 1999 from Mankato State University.
Lori has held a variety of teaching positions in all age levels of special education as well as elementary education. She was also a Head Start Home Visitor and volleyball coach.
Lori lives in Alden with her husband who is a retired teacher and coach. She is the mother of three sons and a daughter. She has two grandsons, a granddaughter with another one on the way.
